 12th NIGHT
Welcome to flower child land! In this our 6th production, we have ventured into the realm of whacky interpretation. Since this play lends itself so beautifully to any number of scenarios, I chose to let the children explore the joys and freedom of being hippies! It was delightful to see them discover a bit of the age of Aquarius, and making the costumes was a real departure for me and the rest of the sweatshop. It was also a great joy to watch my daughter work intensely with her oldest friend on something so meaningful to both of them and to watch their relationship deepen right there on stage. I hope this experience can help to sustain their friendship as Bree leaves to be the first to venture out into the bigger world.
Outside of our small world of CST, the landscape is looking bleak. I hope that this trip back to the 60's in all of it's zaniness can help remind you of another time when peace and love were called for with loud and joyous voices. I wish for all of us to do whatever we can to bring joy, peace and love to every corner of the world. I hope we have brought some to your life today.
Lastly, I would like to thank and celebrate all of the wonderful people who helped to make this production possible - our loyal patrons, certainly, and most of all the wonderful parents who run the concession table, bring dinners and snacks for the kids, sew costumes, record music for us, regale us with beautiful concerts, videotape productions and generally make sacrifices of all kinds to keep this show going.
